I've got an itch, that's it, just there, oooh
- Graeme Elkington
- Fujifilm X-T20 (ISO 640, f6.7, 1/125)
- My long-planned temporary break from work in 2020 coincided with social restrictions and lockdowns. Dog walks and local exercise became my new routines. I have lived in Greenwich for 30 years but I found myself looking more closely with my camera at the park and became conscious of so much bird action all around. This sociable pair of parakeets seemed to be very unselfconscious as they carefully groomed each other.
Greenwich at work or play - WINNER
Skating in lockdown
- Peter Colvin
- Fujifilm X-T30 (ISO 200, f11, 1/125)
- Taken on 16th December 2020 with a Fuji 15-55 zoom lens at 40.7. The camera was resting on the little balcony at the back of the Queen's House. It was just about the only sign of people enjoying themselves in December and despite the effort put into setting up the rink at was all shut down a few days later when we went into the second lockdown

Fog over Greenwich
- Amanda Burgess
- Sony ILCE-7M3 (ISO 100, f11, 1/50)
- Heavy fog had been hanging over London for a few hours that morning. I took this photo just as the Queen’s House was momentarily bathed in light, and the Canary Wharf skyscrapers were emerging through the lifting fog in the distance. The tent of the Christmas ice rink can also be seen next to the Queen’s House. It was an incredibly cold morning.
View from The Tide
- Amanda Burgess
- Sony ILCE-7M3 (ISO 250, f22, 1/10)
- During lockdown many people took their daily exercise along the river - this image was taken from 'The Tide' aerial walkway overlooking the Thames Path at Greenwich Peninsula. The shutter speed was slow enough to create some movement in the boys cycling past, but fast enough to freeze the women pointing across the river.
Lonesome pine
- Amanda Burgess
- Sony ILCE-7 (ISO 64, f16, 1/13)
- I’d recently bought an infra red camera and always had it in mind to capture the pine tree in Ulundi Road. As green appears white in infra red photography I thought it would be the perfect subject. I love the way the tree comes into view as you approach the bend in the road.
Fashion hound
- Amanda Burgess
- Sony ILCE-7M3 (ISO 320, f4, 1/2000)
- On this particular day Greenwich Park was full of people enjoying the snow with lots of kids sledging as schools were out due to Covid. When I saw this handsome dog in a really snazzy fair isle jumper I just had to take a photo
Flower garden fir
- Amanda Burgess
- Sony ILCE-7M3 (ISO 100, f14, 1)
- This image was taken early morning in the Greenwich Park flower garden, when the fog was very thick and before the park became too busy. I wanted to create an eery quality, so I processed it using a split tone in Photoshop.
Red in the clouds
- Amanda Burgess
- Sony ILCE-7M3 (ISO 250, f9, 1/640)
- Taken at the Greenwich & Docklands International Festival 2020 of the Rainbow Ballet performed by Dulce Compania as part of On Your Doorstep at Greenwich Peninsula. The performers were on stilts and I wanted to capture one of the dancers silhouetted against the clouds, leaving out the watching crowds and the scene’s general activity. It was an incredible show.
